Author visit - Jackie Morris

Children at Bassetts Farm Primary school enjoyed a visit from author and illustrator Jackie Morris on Wednesday 7th October. The whole school are currently learning about bears, inspired by Jackie’s book ‘Something about a Bear’. During her visit the children were enthralled, as Jackie showed pictures of bears she had visited to enable her to write about them and paint them for her book. She showed her sketches and talked about her writing.  A small group of children were lucky enough to watch her paint a picture of a polar bear. While she painted she answered questions and later met parents and signed copies of her books.

The day was enjoyable and will be something the staff and children will remember for a long time. Jackie was able to visit the school as she was in the area to launch her new book ‘The Wild Swans’ and exhibit her art work at Number Seven, Dulverton.  Jackie has agreed to look at art work and writing the children produce following her visit and answer questions on her blog. Thank you Jackie.
