At Bassetts Farm Primary School, Design Technology contributes to a broad, enriching and successful curriculum that is accessible and ambitious for all children. Using the National Curriculum Design Technology outcomes, we develop children’s skills, knowledge and understanding, enabling them to creatively solve problems both individually and as part of a team within a range of Design and Technology areas from textiles to food.
We aim for Design and Technology within the school to:
- Reflect our local context by working collaboratively with schools and with STEM partners to provide opportunities for children to explore and appreciate innovation, creativity and human achievement.
- Aim to ensure that all children can achieve good standards and strive to excel
- Address social disadvantage by ensuring that all children have access to a variety of materials and tools and to wider experiences related to Design and Technology areas.
- Contribute to each child’s cultural capital, ensuring all children are equally exposed to creative and cultural opportunities with Design and Technology, enabling and preparing all children for experiences and challenges in later life.
